The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) is a national organization whose ongoing mission is to secure and maintain the civil rights of Japanese Americans and all others who are victimized by injustice and bigotry. The leaders and members of the JACL also work to promote cultural, educational and social values and preserve the heritage and legacy of the Japanese American community.

The National Youth/Student Council (NY/SC) is a body of students and young professional leaders representing our peers on the district and national levels of the JACL, the oldest and largest Asian American civil rights organization in the nation.

The mission of the NY/SC is to raise awareness of AAPI issues and to engage and develop young leaders who create positive change in our community. Our vision is a network of collaborative young community leaders and allies with the collective power and passion to make change.

The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) National Youth/Student Council hosts regional leadership summits each year to provide training and development to youth, college students, and young professionals.

Past summits have been hosted in Berkeley, Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland, New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Washington D.C., and San Francisco, with topics ranging from leadership development to combating xenophobia.
